That’s a mighty grand description of the word “naked.” But that’s exactly what it was.

It is hilarious that people are looking for my blog using “naked”, and “wardrobe malfunctions,” and “skinny dipping.”

Even today, I found four references to the search terms “naked swimming,” “nudity,” and “swimsuit malfunctions.”

Local social media consultant, Jeff Cobb, and I recently discussed SEO, and of course the discussion led to using naughty words to find our blogs.

Last summer, Jeff blogged about a study that revealed 60 percent of executives surveyed reported actually thinking about sex while watching boring Powerpoint presentations.  http://tinyurl.com/27x3kn
 

And wouldn’tcha know it?  “Powerpoint sex” turned out to be his best SEO.

For the record, I found that post quickly by searching on those words.

One of my Twitter friends confessed that she gets tons of hits with the search term “huge boobs.”  She likely gets lots of hit-ons too.  For the record, I tried searching on that phrase, but couldn’t find her blog.  I didn’t try very hard though.

Hmmmm….Search Engine Optimization.  It’s an art.  Salt your websites and blogs with lots of key words that will lead readers directly to your front door. 

Here’s a hint: On your blogs, see if you can work in “naked,” (or “nekkid” if your blog is deep southern fried), “sex”, “skinny dipping in public,” and well, you get the picture.

 “This application is superb and user-friendly; it is pure and naked, stripped of unnecessary bells and whistles, yet extraordinarily sexy and its ease of use will save you valuable time so you will be able to leave work early and go skinny dipping.” 

The Best SEO ever!

Squeak was such a creature. 

She bossed the other cats around, even when she was dying of kidney failure, and until the very end, tried to be in charge of me too.  I always took some comfort in knowing her brain was about the size of a walnut, and I was at least smarter than her, although she did manage to keep me on my toes.

Squeak is gone, but now I have a new power struggle.

With my Iphone.

 You know how the media touts “smart phones?”  My Iphone possibly has an IQ higher than mine.

Take spelling.

I was an English major for goodness sakes.  Writing and communication are my best skills. 

I KNOW how to spell.

So tell that to my Iphone.

I have a Twitter I.D. and issue my fair share of tweets from time to time.

I recently posted a tweet to my network that said, in part:

“to all my Twitter friends.”  Except when it appeared on the list of comments, it said “to all my ‘Twitted’ friends.”

Of course I thought it was my fault for making a typo.  Then I thought I detected an evil chuckle coming from my Iphone.

So I typed “Twitter,” and the phone substituted “Twitted” all by itself!

Today, I wrote this sentence:

“I had some pics taken of myself,” but the Iphone took out “pics” and substituted “pigs!”

So now, the struggle is on.  Me against the machine.

You notice I have been spelling Iphone wrong?  It should be iPhone.

Touche!

A year ago, I had never heard of it. 

Where in the world have I been?  Under a rock is my best guess.

Now I’m a blogger, a twitterer, linked in, plugged in, and covered up in it.

Social media is growing like kudzu.  If you are not from ’round here in the south, kudzu is a fast growing weed.  Driving out in the country you can often see old barns, fences, trees, abandoned tractors, and decrepit cars covered over completely with foliage. 

It’s kudzu and it has taken over.

A few months ago, stepping into the world of social media was a little like Dorothy stepping out of her tornado tossed house into the colorful Land of Oz.
